Our Shops Need You!
Some 110,000 people work as volunteers each week in charity shops throughout the UK.These volunteers raise over £100 million a year for the charities they support. Your ideas, energy and enthusiasm can make a real difference and raise money to our work. Two thirds of our funds come through donations, fundraising, street collections, house to house collections and our Charity Shops.
Paul Sartori Foundation has 4 shops in the Pembrokeshire area with plans to open more. These shops exist to generate funds to support the running of the Hospice and to project a positive and professional image of the organisation. The shops sell second hand goods that are donated by the public.
Currently the shops have an annual turnover in excess of £100.000. This figure accounts for approximately 20% of the income required to run the Hospice. Everyone who works in the shops including the supervisors are volunteers. There are currently around 90 volunteers working in the shops but we are always searching fo more people to help support this growing business.
What will you get out of it?
- You will meet lots of different people
- Make new friends
- Have fun!
- Know that you're making a difference by supporting our hospice at home work in Pembrokeshire
What will you have to do?
There is normally a range of work in our shops to suit most people:
- If you have a passion for fashion then sorting clothes might be for you
- If you are a keen recycler then you can do your bit for the environment by making people aware of how goods that have been donated to us can be re-used
- If retailing is your thing then helping customers, pricing stock or working on the till might appeal to you
- If you have an eye for design, then arranging the shop and window displays could be a great way to show off your skills
How much time will it take?
It's really up to you
- Volunteering need not interfere with your other commitments
- Most shops are open weekdays and Saturdays
- Ask about how much time you can contribute. It may be half a day a week or you might want to work full time
Why not give it a go?
If you feel you could help by donating some of your time then either go and see the supervisor of your local shop or phone 01437 763223 for more information.
